Honest Credit Card Reviews, Not Advertiser-Driven
About TopCardReviews
We help US consumers cut through credit card marketing noise to find cards that actually fit their spending. Our research is grounded in primary-source issuer documentation, not third-party summaries.
Our Mission
Most credit card review sites are paid to recommend the cards that pay them the most. We're building something different — an independent reference where the best card for your situation is the one we recommend, regardless of commission.
We cover mainstream US credit cards across travel, cashback, student, and business categories from major issuers including Chase, American Express, Capital One, Discover, and Citi.
How we work
- Independent Research. Every card we feature is researched directly from issuer documentation, not third-party summaries.
- Editorial Independence. Our recommendations are not influenced by affiliate commissions. We frequently feature cards we earn nothing from.
- Transparent Methodology. Our rating criteria are publicly documented in our Editorial Policy. Anyone can audit how we arrived at a recommendation.
- Reader-First Approach. We always disclose drawbacks — high fees, restrictive terms, narrow use cases — even on cards that pay us a commission.

Guanzhi — Founder & Lead Editor
Personal finance researcher and founder of TopCardReviews. Focuses on rewards optimization, welcome bonus strategy, and helping everyday consumers cut through credit card marketing.
Guanzhi founded TopCardReviews to counter "best credit card" lists that read more like sponsored placements than honest analysis. The site exists to provide one thing most comparison sites don't: recommendations driven by who the card actually fits, not who pays the highest commission.
Day-to-day, Guanzhi reads issuer disclosure documents, tracks publicly posted welcome-bonus and fee changes across major US issuers, and compares annual-fee math using those published terms. Reviews on the site are grounded in primary-source documentation from each issuer and other public product information — not first-person card-holding tests.
- Reviews based on issuer documentation and publicly available product terms
- Tracks publicly posted fees, APR ranges, and welcome bonuses from major US issuers
- Methodology grounded in primary-source issuer documents rather than third-party summaries
- Independent operator — no paid editorial placements, no advertiser-approved content
